Studio

Even tough our website is Tacoma Recording Studio .com , the actual name of the studio is Decade Sound. Strictly for internet marketing purposes we chose that domain name as it will be easy for people to remember and the search engines will find it! The picture below is NOT our studio but is actually East West Studios in California. Very nice place!

A bit of information about our studio since we are not really going to post pics until the construction is actually done. The building itself is 2800 square feet and will feature a lounge at the front of the building along with a kitchenette and a very nice unisex restroom. Behind that we will have our duplication room which will also serve as a maintanence room as well as access to our “guitar cellar”. We will explain more about what that is later! Our building now has a brand new HVAC system, that was installed at the end of 2013. All of the rooms in our studio will have heat as well as air conditioning. Extra care has been taken to make sure it is as quiet as possible so even the most sensitive of microphones will not be able to pick up the sound of the HVAC.

Our main control room measures 26 feet deep by 22 feet wide and features a 9′ 10″ ceiling height. The control room will house everything from high end new equipment to lots of hard to find vintage gear as well and will have a very laid back but creative environment. To achieve the type of atmosphere we wanted the main rooms of the entire studio will feature at least 4 different types of lighting and complete control over all aspects of it.

The main studio room is 36 feet long by 22 feet wide and features 10’10” ceilings and has equal site lines into the vocal booth, the main control room, and the large iso booth that can double as a drum room or a second control room if necessary.

At the rear of the building there is also two more restrooms and the larger one is being turned into a Greenroom that features toilet, double shower, lockers and full length mirrors.

All walls have been constructed using dual layers of 5/8″ sheet rock and separated by Green Glue to get the best isolation possible between the main rooms. We will also have each of the hallways wired with ‘pass throughs” for use as additional isolation booths if we need them.

Even before the construction was completed we had installed a 16  camera security system and 24 hour alarm monitoring.

(Ok the pic above is not our studio! But it is pretty similar to what we are building so I thought we would add it!)
